Jo Weston, Resourcing Business Partner for Sales, spent some time with new Direct Sales Manager, Charli Rushforth, as she sets out to recruit a new team across the UK.

As the quote for Zig Ziglar says, having a great attitude will take you places and it has for Charli Rushforth, NFU Mutual’s Direct Sales Manager. I had the pleasure of chatting to Charli, who is leading a new sales team focussed on growing our high value home insurance account.
Charli has a wealth of experience within the industry. Starting her career in underwriting, she quickly found her passion was for sales and management. And, before joining NFU Mutual, Charli successfully managed a remote High Net Worth team at Bluefin.
I asked Charli, what encouraged you to join NFU Mutual? “Like any candidate looking to change jobs, I wanted to join a business that has the same ethos as I do. I wanted to join a business that has a fantastic reputation in the market and products that would enable me to reach my sales goals.”
As Charli explained: “Over the last two years we’ve experienced great success in growing the account and raising awareness of our high net worth home insurance product. We’ve identified customers who have a specific need and want the service for which NFU Mutual is well known for. As a team we work very closely with our underwriting colleagues and the business has a fantastic appetite to write this type of business. Combine this with our, strong servicing of policies from our central team and this creates a great environment for sales people to grow in.”
As Direct Sales Manager, Charli is looking forward to building a dynamic sales force. “It’s an exciting opportunity. Shaping the offering and achieving some stretching numbers” Charli told me. “As I’m recruiting, I’m looking for people with the same level of passion and aspiration as I have.”
Charli’s strong track record in sales management has seen her develop her leadership skills. Her style is to provide an environment in which support and consistency of approach are paramount. It’s this method that enables Charli to achieve the right work-life balance. And Charli encourages this ethos in her team, whilst recognising and rewarding hard work and achievement.
