FAQs
1. What is the recruitment process?
On receipt of your CV the recruiting manager will review your skills and experience, resulting in chosen candidates being invited to complete psychometric tests (if this is a requirement of the role) or an interview.
2. What if I upload the wrong CV?
Unfortunately the system does not allow any amendments once applications have been submitted to a role so you will need to contact us directly to make the necessary amendments.
3. How long will it take until I am in post?
The length of time until you take up an offered post will depend upon a number of factors e.g. your notice period, the length of time to obtain references and any other eligibility clearance(s). We like candidates to be in post as soon as possible and will endeavour to do our checks as quickly as possible.
4. I do not have the required qualifications that are stated in the advert. Am I eligible to still apply?
The needs for each position are carefully considered and will be clearly stated in each job description. If you have not obtained the required academic or professional qualifications but feel that your level of experience equates to that stated in the role requirements then you should still apply and make reference to this in your application.
5. What opportunities are available to work part-time?
Some departments have vacancies suitable for part-time roles and these will be identified in the job description.
6. How will I be aware of future vacancies that I may be interested in?
You can set up an email alert, which will notify you of all future positions within areas that you are interested in. An email alert can be set up by accessing your application profile and follow the instructions.
7. May I apply for more than one vacancy?
Yes. Please note that if you have applied unsuccessfully to a department and wish to apply again you can do so.
8. May I re-take my psychometric tests if I do not reach benchmark?
Yes, however you will need to wait 6 months to re-take the same level tests.
9. Which departments are recruiting?
All of our vacancies are advertised on our website and can be found at www.nfumutualcareers.co.uk.
10. I have a criminal record – will I still be eligible to join/apply?
There are FSA guidelines that we are required to follow, and all applications are looked at individually. You will be asked to detail any criminal offences during the application process so it is important that you disclose all offences.
11. Can I put my name on a waiting list to work at NFU Mutual?
No, you will need to apply for specific roles that you are interested in. Occasionally when there is more than one position required in quick succession of each other the recruiting manager may contact the second choice applicant to discuss the opportunity.
12. Can I send you my CV directly?
No, we do not accept CV's sent directly as there are a number of questions that are asked, which are part of the recruitment process.
13. Can I put my old application forward for another job?
No, it is important that you complete and re-apply for every role that you are interested in as there are specific questions and requirements for each position. Previous answers might not be relevant to the post you wish to apply for.
14. Can you give me feedback on why I wasn't successful?
Due to the number of applications received all requests for feedback are forwarded to the recruiting manager. Please email us directly with feedback requests detailing your contact details so we can contact you. Please allow 10 working days.
15. Am I too old?
There is no upper age limit at NFU Mutual. We employ the best candidate for the role and consider people's suitability for our company.
16. I do not have documents to prove my address – what can I provide?
The reason we ask for proof of address is so that we can complete your pre-employment screening checks if you are successful. Please either approach your bank for a bank statement with your address or contact your doctors surgery for a letter confirming your home address.
17. Do you offer graduate trainee programmes, apprenticeships and/or work experience?
Yes, however these programmes are on an ad-hoc basis. All vacancies are advertised on our website so please log on to www.nfumutualcareers.co.uk and set up an email alert so that you are notified of such opportunities.
