Our history
In 1910 the Stratford and District Farmer’s Union were discussing ways of how to attract more members into their Union. They hit upon the idea of offering insurance to their members at cost price and so the Midland Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Society Ltd was formed.
Initially, the company operated solely around the Stratford-upon-Avon area, but in time farmers from other areas expressed interest in what they were doing.
In 1919, during a search by the National Farmers Union of England and Wales for an official insurer, the NFU, which had gained the approval of the Midland Farmers, won out against stiff competition from the other main insurers of the time. And on 30th September 1919, the National Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Society was formed.
